Legendary gospel singer and songwriter Dottie Rambo died early Sunday when her tour bus drove off a Missouri highway and struck an embankment. She was 74.
Seven other passengers were reported injured in the wreck.
The wreck occurred on Interstate 44, about two miles east of Mount Vernon, the Missouri Highway Patrol said. The injured passengers were hospitalized in Springfield with moderate to severe injuries, according to the patrol reports.
It was not immediately known whether the crash was due to the severe storms and tornadoes that went through the area Saturday.
Rambo, of Nashville, Tenn., was on her way to a Mother’s Day performance in Texas, according to her Web site.
